Mufflers & Exhaust Service

Although the muffler is found in the rear, the exhaust system actually starts at the front of a vehicle. All exhaust systems work to remove toxic gases from the engine which are produced while the car is running. The entire network is comparable to certain parts of the human digestive system. For instance, the liver serves as a major detoxification system for the body, just as a catalytic converter does for a vehicle by filtering harmful fumes into less harmful ones. At the end of the system, carbon dioxide and water vapor are released from the rear to keep you and your passengers safe from inhaling toxic gas.

Just as a malfunctioning digestive system would be detrimental to the human body, a malfunctioning exhaust system would have the same consequences on a vehicle. Call us at Garber Chevrolet in Midland to have your system inspected or repaired- don’t wait for something worse to happen.

Muffler & Exhaust FAQ’s—

Even under normal circumstances, small holes and road damage can plague your exhaust system, and what makes matters worse is that the problems may be difficult to recognize or identify. However, in some cases you will be able to hear the issue. If your car is producing excessively loud noise, then there is a good chance your muffler needs some repair work. Bring your vehicle into Garber Chevrolet and we will check over your muffler and exhaust system, diagnose the issue, and have you (quietly) driving away in no time!

In addition to keeping your car quiet, a proper-functioning exhaust system can help improve fuel economy, filter the air entering the cabin of your vehicle, and reduce pollution from your car into the environment.

Garber Chevrolet takes pride in repairing all vehicle makes, models, and ages. Whether you purchased your car from us or another dealership, we are happy to help with your vehicle needs. If you have any questions or concerns about the service center at Garber Chevrolet, feel free to call us at (989) 488-4994.

Everything you need to know about mufflers & exhaust—

Exhaust Manifold – The exhaust manifold connects directly to the vehicle’s engine and consists of one or more pipes that collect exhaust gas from the engine’s cylinders and deliver it to the exhaust pipe.

Catalytic Converter – The exhaust fumes that exit through the exhaust manifold arrive at the catalytic converter, which creates a chemical reaction to produce less harmful gases.

Muffler – This is the part that most people are familiar with as it is typically visible from behind the vehicle. The muffler’s primary purpose is to reduce the noise of the exhaust system; if a hole develops in it, the car will become noticeably louder.

As a system, the exhaust manifold, catalytic converter, and the muffler not only make your vehicle quieter, it also reduces the level of harmful pollutants released into the cabin of your vehicle and into the atmosphere.
